For over 40 years, Hercules Candy has been a beloved part of the Syracuse community, but its story began long before. In 1910, Steve Andrianos’ grandfather and two great-uncles arrived in America from Greece, carrying nothing but a dream of building a better life. They began their journey in Boston, learning the art of candy-making at the Boston Candy Kitchen. Unknowingly, they were laying the foundation for a family legacy that would span generations.

The brothers eventually settled in Upstate New York, first in Fulton and later in Syracuse, where they opened what is now known as Hercules Candy. The shop quickly became a local favorite, but after closing in 1972, the future looked uncertain. Steve, then 21 years old, was determined to keep the family tradition alive. With just $500, he reopened Hercules Candy in 1975, crafting candies by hand using techniques passed down through his family.

In 1983, Steve's wife, Terry, joined the business, bringing a fresh perspective and unwavering support. Together, they transformed Hercules Candy into more than just a candy shop—it became a community hub. From crafting wedding favors to witnessing generations share their first taste of candy, Hercules Candy built strong personal connections with its customers.

For Steve and Terry, it's not just about transactions. “It’s the people who come in and the memories they create that make this place special,” Steve says. The personal touch they bring has allowed them to grow with their customers, turning Hercules Candy into a multi-generational tradition for many local families.

Even as Hercules Candy gained popularity online with millions of followers on YouTube and TikTok, they remained true to their roots, prioritizing family values, community, and a personalized customer experience.
